Glaucoma

SLT

Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a minimally invasive treatment option for glaucoma, a disease that damages the eye's optic nerve, which can lead to vision loss and blindness. SLT uses a laser to target the trabecular meshwork, the drainage system in the eye that controls the pressure inside the eye. By targeting this area, SLT can help to lower the pressure inside the eye, which can slow or even stop the progression of glaucoma. The procedure is quick and easy, with most patients reporting no discomfort or pain. SLT can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other glaucoma treatments such as eye drops, and it's considered a first-line treatment option. If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma, SLT may be a great option for you. Consult with a qualified ophthalmologist to know if SLT is the right choice for you.

Dry Eye

IPL

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is a non-invasive treatment option for dry eye syndrome. This therapy uses a specialized device that emits high-intensity pulses of light to target the meibomian glands in the eyelids, which are responsible for producing the lipid layer of the tear film. By improving the function of the meibomian glands, IPL therapy can help to reduce symptoms of dry eyes such as itching, burning, and redness. The procedure is quick and easy, with most patients reporting no discomfort or pain. IPL therapy can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other dry eye treatments such as artificial tears, warm compresses, and lid hygiene. If you are suffering from dry eyes, IPL therapy may be a great option for you.

Punctal plugs

Punctal plugs are a safe and effective treatment option for dry eyes. These small, silicone plugs are inserted into the tear ducts, which are located in the inner corner of the eyelids. The plugs work by blocking the drainage of tears, which helps to keep the eyes lubricated and reduces symptoms of dry eyes such as itching, burning, and redness. The procedure is simple and can be performed in the doctor's office. Punctal plugs are typically well-tolerated and can provide long-lasting relief from dry eye symptoms. The procedure is reversible, and the plugs can be removed or adjusted as needed. Punctal plugs can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other dry eye treatments such as artificial tears, warm compresses, and lid hygiene. If you are suffering from dry eyes, punctal plugs may be a great option for you. Consult with Dupage Ophthalmology to know if punctal plugs are the right choice for you.
